DELANO HOLMES

Delano Mitchell Holmes is an actor, comedian, writer, and entrepreneur from
Los Angeles, Ca. He has enjoyed success in television and film for close to
18 years. Once considered the “Black Belushi” by theatre Professor M.
Ruttland (Southern University School of Arts) Holmes has been able to
deliver knee-slapping humor to audiences for years. Most recently, he can
be seen aside Slink Johnson playing Detective Mitchell in the movie Dirty
Cops LA (2021). He has also entertained audiences as “Avery” in the
movie A Gift Horse and as “Spook” in Da Block Party.
Delano was raised in South Central, Los Angeles. As a youth, he was faced
with the daily trails of an African American man growing up in the inner
cities of Los Angeles, Ca. A product of a single home, Delano was
determined to succeed in both academics and athletics as a student at
Westchester Highschool. It was his goal to not only excel in the classroom
and on the football field, but to stand as a positive role model to his
younger brother Mark Lawson. Delano graduated high school with honors
and chose “The” Southern University A&M College to further his collegiate
academics. Delano received his B.A. in Journalism from Southern
University and A&M College in 2005.
While at Southern Delano was an active member of The Southern
University Student Government Association, Men’s Federation and
Southern University Football Team. In the fall of 2003 Delano was initiated
into the Beta Sigma Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity inc. In that same
year, Delano made his acting debut, starring as himself on BET’s College
Hill, which was the first all-African American reality series. Later that year
he co-starred as “Spook” in the 2004 movie Da Block Party. Since then,
Delano has appeared in over 16 films and 2 television series productions.
During his 18-year acting career he has worked with Chevy Chase, Mike
Epps, Richard Dreyfus, Sherman Helmsley, Lou Diamond -Phillips, Clifton
Powell, Carl Anthony Paine, Darrin Henson, Persia White, Joe Torry,
Tracey Edmonds, Meagan Good, Ruby Dee, and John Snyder.
After graduation, Delano taught grade school English and Theatre schools
New Orleans, Louisiana. As an entrepreneur, Delano focused on bringing
the Southern customs and traditions to Los Angeles. In 2020, Delano
opened the first Sneaux Bidness LLC, which is a New Orleans-style eatery
that specializes in New Orleans style Snow Balls and cuisine. Delano is
also Co-owner of Sassy Suga Lips service, which is a beauty and health
cosmetics brand located in Los Angeles, CA. Delano stands as a Brand

Ambassador of Dopeaholics, which is a Los Angeles-based lifestyle brand
company that promotes culture and cannabis that believes in Making America Dope Again.
Delano currently works as a Program Manager for Volunteers of America
in the greater Los Angeles area. He currently oversees a National Youth
Build program. That Youth Build program focuses on providing young
adults ages 17-24 the opportunity to attain their high school diploma
through John Muir Charter School. The program also offers a construction
and automotive trade through The Maxine Waters Employment
Preparation Center located in Watts, California.

Delano has maintained a positive image in his community and professional
career. He has homed in on his own craft and creating a style of comedy
that moves fluidly from scene to scene. Delano credit his grandmother Ms.
Pearl Mae Brown for hard ward ethic, witty punchlines and all-around crafty
humor. Although able to portray a wide variety of dialects and personalities,
many of the performances in his films are to pay homage to friends and
family members of rural Southern Louisiana.  His family ties to the South
allow him to capture those heartfelt, humorous, soulful characteristics of
“down home” and bring those characters to life. As a man, his biggest task
is to continue to stand as that positive role mole for his brother and others
in his family and community.” Those Southern values are extremely
important to me, That’s who I am and where I come from. I represent my
people everyday. Through my Businesses, My acting and my performances
or my uplift are all for my My People……”
